Annemie Maes is artist and (co)founder of OKNO and SO-ON.
Her artistic research focuses on the behavior of language in its many appearances: textual, sonic and visual, as well as gestural or body language. How do these disparate elements relate to each other and how do they organize within a system, which includes human and computer as a sender and a receiver [and vice versa]?
Annemie Maes holds a masters degree in fine arts and cultural studies. She is involved in cultural activism and is responsible for OKNO's day-to-day management and programmation.

OKNO is a Belgian non-profit cultural organisation, and is organized as a platform for several real and virtual organisations that work within the area of technological arts in the broadest sense.Okno supports artists that research, develop and create innovative forms of cultural production in the field of technology and media arts, and presents the processes and results of this research to a broad and diverse audience through a program of interactive installations, experimental concerts, performances, workshops and lectures.
The themes are mainly: code and algorithms, communication systems, ecological technological art. The presentations are experimental, and basically demonstrate a process-driven or researching approach, within the domain of technological art and culture.

SO-ON [former LookingGlass] is a group of artists and curators working with image, sound and technology. In their artprojects they research the transversal field of installations, performances and audio-visual compositions. Their focus is to identify innovation and change while developing artistic projects, and focus on new aesthetical presentation techniques.
